This is a 1998 photo of the main base hospital. It was constructed around 1930, in the first reconstruction period of Mitchel Field. This period, beginning in 1928, replaced the temporary wood frame buildings with permanent brick buildings. By the end of 1932, the first period of reconstruction was nearing completion.

The painted HOSPITAL sign over the door can still be seen after 39 plus years.
